About Me
I was born and raised in New York City; I became motivated to make significant changes in my life and I decided to pursue higher education. I enrolled at Touro College, where I earned my associate and bachelor’s degrees in human services/counseling. Balancing single parenthood with my studies was incredibly difficult, but it set me on a path of personal and professional growth.
After completing my bachelor's degree, I began working in substance use counseling, a field that has been deeply rewarding. I pursued a master’s degree in clinical counseling with a specialty in Substance Use, graduating in 2004. Two years later, I was grandfathered in with my LMHC.
My journey has been filled with challenges and learning experiences, teaching me the importance of self-care and grace. Now, as a licensed mental health counselor, I am passionate about helping others navigate their own paths to wellness. Working with LaVerne these past few years have been, in all honesty, life changing. I met LaVerne at a low point. I had cheated on my partner and didn’t know why. LaVerne helped me become introspective and address the cause for my behavior, while also offering her thoughts in a nonjudgmental manner. When that relationship ended, LaVerne was a huge support for me, helping me find ways to cope and bringing me back to stability. She’s helped me develop a useful toolbox for coping with the stress and anxiety of changing jobs and locations, and the importance of looking after myself. She’s taught me how to say no and prioritize tasks, which has helped me in my career as a lawyer.
